Piacque alla retorica fascista collocare questa copia di una statua romana di Cesare Augusto, insieme a quella di Giulio Cesare, per completare la scenografia della Porta Palatina, storico reperto dell’ingresso alla città che nel I d.C. si chiamava Augusta Taurinorum e oggi Torino. I due Cesari non sono testimoni diretti di quel passato, ma forse basta la loro sagoma, ben conosciuta, a suggerirlo.

Fascist rhetoric was wont to have this copy of a Roman statue of Julius Caesar with another one of Caesar Augustus located here to complete the scenery of the Porta Palatina, a historical remembrance of the town known as Augusta Taurinorum in the First Century AD and Turin nowadays. The two Caesars never were direct witnesses of that past, but their well-known shape is enough to suggest it.
