The Mayor of the City of Torino Sergio Chiamparino met a delegation, coming from Detroit and led by the Mayor Dave Bing, within the framework of a study project promoted by the Kresge Foundation and financed by the German Marshall Fund in collaboration with the Association Torino Internazionale and the Compagnia di San Paolo. The delegation, that included several institutional, cultural and economic representatives as well as journalists and managers, carried out an intense programme of visits and meetings aiming at exploring eventual cooperation opportunities. During the visit a public confrontation among the two Mayors, moderated by the director of La Stampa Mario Calabresi, and a concert of the Detroit Torino Urban Jazz Project have also taken place.
The Mayor of the City of Torino Sergio Chiamparino met the Secretary General of the Italian Chamber of Commerce of Ontario, Corrado Paina, and the President and CEO of Invest Toronto, Renato Discenza.
The Deputy Mayor in charge of Integration Policies, Ilda Curti, met a delegation coming from Australia, led by the member of the Parliament in charge of Transports, Infrastructures and Energy of the South-Australian Government Leon Bignell, in Torino as interested in urban transformations and social inclusion issues.
The International Affairs Department of the City of Torino organised for a delegation of student engineers from the Argentinean city of Cordoba a study tour of the automotive in Torino.
The Vice Mayor of the City of Torino Tom Dealessandri and the Deputy Mayor in charge of Integration Policies, Ilda Curti, met a delegation coming from Detroit and interested in exchanging know-how, through technical visits, on large scale urban transformations, within the framework of the Comparative Domestic Policy programme of the German Marshall Fund.
The Deputy Mayor in charge of City Planning, Private Building and Public Property, Mario Viano, met a delegation coming from the City of São Paolo, led by the Deputy Mayor in charge of Urban Development Miguel Bucalem and interested in knowing more about the important urban transformations the city underwent during the last years and the metropolitan mobility system.
The Mayor of the City of Torino Sergio Chiamparino met the Ambassador of Argentina in Italy Norma Nascimbene de Dumont and the Consul General of Argentina in Milan Gustavo Moreno.
