TIEF 2017: THIRD TURIN ISLAMIC ECONOMIC FORUM, MARCH 6-7

Next March 6-7, Torino will play host to the Turin Islamic Economic Forum 2017 (TIEF) at the Torino Incontra Conference Centre. After the 2014 and 2015 editions that launched, explained and created the momentum for Islamic finance and economy, the City of Torino is pleased to announce that the third edition of the successful event will focus on the use of Islamic finance to trigger processes of social inclusion in the suburbs and to promote the internationalisation of local SMEs, in particular in the field of renewable energies, biotechnology and aerospace, with insights and updates on the evolution of the national law on fiscal neutrality. The two-day event in Torino, which combines world-renowned speakers with real case studies in various sectors of the halal economy, will be followed by a working session to be held in the UAE focusing on B2B meetings between Italian enterprises and foreign investors.
With this new edition of the TIEF, the City of Torino confirms its drive for cooperation with global Islamic institutions and local companies to achieve common growth. To this respect, last month Mayor Chiara Appendino signed in Dubai a Memorandum of Understanding with the Dubai Green Economy Partnership aiming at promoting sustainable economic growth and at facilitating waste management and the use of renewable energies, increasing the trade and investment opportunities connected to green economy.
The pact signed in the UAE is very important since “it will enable the City and its business companies to increase their investment opportunities, especially in a country such as the UAE which plays an increasingly important role of essential global logistic hub” commented Mayor Appendino.

The strategic partnership with the Dubai GEP will offer to Torino the potential to further develop green activities and projects, within the framework of the Open for Business strategic plan, jointly developed by the Municipality of Torino, the Universities and local and national stakeholders such as 2 Ministries, to foster economic development and relaunch of the territory.

The Turin Islamic Economic Forum 2017 is organized by the City of Torino in partnership with the University of Torino, the Torino Chamber of Commerce and ASSAIF.
