Title: URBAL
Description: Urbal, that later became urb-al3, is a European Community program for the development of direct and lasting ties between local European and Latin American authorities, through the dissemination, acquisition and application of best practices in urban policy making. The objectives of the program are to strengthen the capacity for action of local authorities in field of social, economic and cultural development in urban areas, develop the structural capacities of local authorities, especially through human resources training, promote partnerships between local authorities and the representatives of civil society, develop the capacity for action in small and medium-sized cities within a framework of encouraging international ties, and promote best practices in local European and Latin American development, in relation to their local contexts. The program is structured along the lines of thematic network creation, and the City of Torino, in the first phase of Urbal took part in Network 12 on Gender Equality.
In 2006 Torino hosted the seminar Yo, PolĂ­tica, aimed at exchanging experiences in order to improve women's quality of life.
