November 27th-30th 2013 Mission to Nagoya and Tokyo - Japan

The Mayor of the City of Torino Piero Fassino led a joint promotional territorial mission to Nagoya and Tokyo in Japan, coordinated by Ceipiemonte and which included the Piedmont Region, the Chamber of Commerce of Torino, the Industrial Union of Torino and Turismo Torino.

On November 27th the Mayor, welcomed by the whole Municipal Assembly of Nagoya, met the Mayor of Nagoya Takashi Kawamura and the President of the Municipal Assembly Kazuhide Fujita before going to the International Design Centre of Nagoya for the opening ceremony of “Torino-Nagoya next generation industry exchange”. The Mayor, the Secretary General of the Chamber of Commerce of Torino Guido Bolatto and the President of Ceipiemonte Giuseppe Donato attended the ceremony. On the occasion, the promotional exhibition “Charme of Torino” was staged at the Design Center and a tasting of  local products was served.

On November 28th then, after a visit to the Toyota branch in Nagoya, the delegation moved to Tokyo, where it was joined by the President of the Piedmont Region Roberto Cota, to give a presentation, in the early afternoon, of the tourist offer of Torino and Piedmont: President Cota, the Mayor of Toino Piero Fassino and the Marketing Director of Turismo Torino Marcella Gaspardoe presented the territory. Afterwards the delegation met the Deputy Minister of Economy Ryosei Tanaka, together with the ambassador of Japan in Italy Hiroyasu Ando, and then took part in the event “Torino and Piemonte” at the Italian Embassy in Japan, with speeches of the Ambassador of Italy in Japan Domenico Giorgi, of President Cota, of Mayor Fassino, of the Secretary General of the Chamber of Commerce Bolatto and of the President of the Industrial Union Lucia Mattioli.

Finally in the morning of November 29th the delegation visited the new branch of Fiat in Tokyo and then met the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Hakubun Shiomura as well as the boards of the National Modern Arts Museum and the National Western Art Museum.

The initiative took place at the same time of the debut of the tour of the Teatro Regio of Torino in Japan, on the occasion of the celebrations for the 200th anniversary of the birth of Giuseppe Verdi, and was organised with the support of the Italian Embassy in Tokyo and the Consulate General of Italy in Osaka.
