The twinning between Salt Lake City and Torino, cities sharing the common experience of the Winter Olympic Games, was approved by the Torino City Council on 8 August 2006. Aim of the twinning was to foster mutual knowledge and exchange of experiences in the economic, cultural and social fields as well as a positive and long-lasting inheritance of the event for their citizens.
