Glasgow has been twinned with Torino since 2003, but their relations began in 1982 when the Torino City Council passed a resolution approving the twinning proposal.
 
The twinning agreement aims to create and strengthen exchanges of information and experience on urban regeneration, arts, culture and the young, in particular in the areas of sport, tourism and leisure time.
