The Mayor of the City of Torino Piero Fassino and the Amb. Franco Giordano, Diplomatic Advisor of the City of Torino opened the works of the second meeting of the permanent table on Africa, recently formed with the goal of building a strategy of relations and connections with the African continent in a systematic way.
Ten African Countries have nowadays consular seats in Torino - one consulate general and nine honorary consulates -, a significant presence, on which the City and all the actors of the political, economical and social life of the territory decided to focus. A focus that also meets the choice of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to give a new impulse to Italy-Africa relations, as highlighted by Luigi Marras, Director general for globalisation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who also took part in the table.
In the table participated the Consul General of South africa, the Consul of Morocco, the Honorary Consuls of Benin, Capo Verde, Mozambico, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Rwanda, Malawi and Ghana, as well as representatives of Institutions, Universities, enterprises and international cooperation bodies.
