February 28th 2014 A network of cities supporting a European plan for sustainable development and employment

Deputy Mayor in charge of International and European Affairs of the City of LyonVice Mayor in charge of Culture, Heritage, Tourism and Cultural Diversity of the City of ChamberyRegional Secretary of AICCRE Piemonte Alfonso Sabatino took part on February 28th at the City Hall at the convention "A network of cities supporting a European plan for sustainable development and employment", organised by the City of Torino with the support of the European Federalist Movement (MFE) and ANCI. 

It was to occasion to present an under construction network of European cities and associations from eight EU area (Italy, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Spain, Greece, Hungary and Czech Republic) aiming at promoting an European Citizens' Initiative (Eci), a tool of participative democracy introduced by the Lisbon treaty, in order to collect one million of signatures and ask the European Union to draft a special plan for development and emplyment.

The Co-chair of the European Green PartyProfessor of Financial Siences of the University of Pavia Alberto Majocchi presented two lectures at the convention, while the conclusions were drawn by representatives of the Union of European Federalists from France and Czech Republic and by Professor Lucio Levi, President of the MFE and promoter of the Eci.
