The Municipality of Turin believes that the lay nature of both the State and public institutions, which naturally includes all local authorities, not only doesn’t exclude dialogue and confrontation with representatives of all the different religions existing in the geographical areas of competence but implies promoting them, has been supporting the ECUMENICA project for years.ECUMENICA is the permanent documentation centre for all cinema, television and audiovisual productions having a spiritual or religious connotation. It has evolved in service for peace and inter-religious dialogue. Over the last few years, in partnership with the City of Turin, Ecumenica has set up and organized cultural and information activities benefiting from the collaboration and direct participation of qualified representatives and experts of the various religions in the area, in an atmosphere of reciprocal respect and positive discussion that has become progressively consolidated.
Every year Ecumenica promotes and organizes initiatives such as seminars, congresses, conferences, book readings and film viewings that encourage discussion and make information available to the general public.

In the occasion of the latter, representatives of the various religions undersigned a shared document on the subject. Thanks to Ecumenica Turin is the only Italian city in which the 8 major religions of the world dialogue with each other. In 2008 the Subject of Ecumenica was “Religions, debt forgiveness and planetary resources”; the yearly congress to be followed by a banquet, is organized in collaboration with Turin Province’s International Relations Department.
