Cioccolatò 2005 in Piazza Castello

Cioccolatò

CioccolaTO’, a joint idea of the Città di Torino, Provincia di Torino and Regione Piemonte,  has in recent years met with enormous success: 10 days of tasting sessions, encounters, games and excursions to discover the capital of chocolate.

For Torino, CioccolatTO’ has increasingly become the annual event for lovers of the “food of the gods” and a chance not to be missed for master chocolatiers and brands, both national and international.

Shows, culture, music and creativity: from Friday 22 February to Sunday 2 March Piazza Vittorio Veneto, Europe’s biggest porticoed square (measuring 360 m long by 111 m wide), will host the incredibly varied mixture of proposals planned for this sixth edition of Cioccolatò.

Further more 2008 is the year in which Torino is the world Design capital, the main theme of which will revolve around "Flexibility". This is why the 2008 edition of CioccolaTò will be dedicated to the twosome of Chocolate-Design.

This association achieves its very highest expression in the chocolate which symbolises Torino (and Italian chocolate in the world): the Gianduiotto. Its characteristic shape, similar to an upturned boat, originally obtained using the famous “flick of the spoon”, is now an inimitable trade mark, achieved thanks to a special process, extrusion – as an alternative to the techniques which involves pouring the ingredients into a mould – which guarantees the complete maintenance of the typical soft consistency, proving the considerable depth of the interaction between the sensorial properties and shape of food.

CioccolaTò 2008 will be an opportunity to discover the infinite declinations of design applied to chocolate, but also to discover – and rediscover – the classics of tradition and give in to the most innovative expressions of the chocolate-maker’s art.
