City Parks
The city has 17 significant parks, where you can seek quiet and contact with nature even in this metropolis.
The most famous is certainly the Valentino Park (450,000 square metres), which includes the 18th-century Botanical Gardens, the Castle – one of the Savoia family residences – and Medieval Village. From the Valentino you can take a ferry and cruise down the Po, to discover the lovely Torinese section of the Po River Park.
Another green area is the Pellerina (over one million square metres), along the banks of the Dora Riparia, with several sports structures like a skating rink and tennis courts, and in the summer a location for events and shows.
The journey to discover the Torinese parks can continue by visiting the Giardini Reali, the royal gardens behind Palazzo Reale. These spaces were designed in 1697 by André Le Nôtre, the architect who also designed the gardens at Versailles.
In Turin you can enjoy a stroll in the park out in the hills too: in the Rimembranza Park, on the Maddalena hillside, with a splendid view over the city, or at the Natural Park of the Collina Torinese di Superga.
