Chocolate

In 1560, Duke Emanuele Filiberto of Savoia celebrated moving his capital from Chambéry to Turin by serving the city a symbolic cup of steaming hot chocolate, initiating Turin’s eternal love affair with chocolate. Over the centuries, the fertile imagination of zealous master chocolatiers created some tasty items like the “gianduiotto”, cocoa and hazelnut cream, ice cream cones.

These days, Turin has an annual chocolate bash called Cioccolatò: two weeks of chocoholic fun, events, tastings, shows and performing arts.
