The relations between Torino and Volgograd originate from the common historical events linked to the resistance of both cities to the Nazi military forces’ occupation during the Second World War.

Since the 1960s the two cities have developed joint exchanges and initiatives, officially formalized in 2011 with the signing of a Collaboration Agreement.

In December 2020, to further strengthen the relations between Torino and Volgograd, Mayor Chiara Appendino and Mayor Vitaly LIkhachev signed a new Cooperation Pact covering activities in the field of economy, education, culture and youth.
