Tra tutti gli uomini che fecero il Risorgimento italiano, Garibaldi si è distinto per la carica passionale e idealistica con cui visse le vicende dell’Unità d’Italia. È ritratto in cima a una roccia sorvegliata da un leone (la forza popolare) e dall’Italia, in posa fiera e disinvolta, avvolto nel suo poncho, come un eroe popolare, un sognatore e un cosmopolita combattente per la libertà.

Of all those who created the Italian Risorgimento, Garibaldi stood out for the passionate and idealistic charge he lived the Unity of Italy with. He is portrayed in a proud and self-possessed pose, standing on a rocky knoll controlled by a lion representing the strength of the people and by Italy, all wrapped up in his poncho, as a popular hero, dreamer and cosmopolitan Freedom fighter.
