“Duca del mare” fu il titolo scelto dalla retorica fascista per onorare questo militare che si operò per dare all’Italia quel “posto al sole” con cui Mussolini promuoveva la sua politica espansionistica di là dal Mediterraneo. Nell’interregno tra le due guerre mondiali, quando non urgeva farne uso strategico, mise la sua esperienza al servizio della Società Geografica Italiana, di cui fu presidente.

“Duke of the sea” was the rhetorical title chosen by the Fascist Party to honour this soldier who strived to win Italy that “place in the sun”, an euphemism which Mussolini used to promote his policy for expansion on the other side of the Mediterranean.
In the period between the two World Wars, when Revel’s experience was not needed for strategic purposes, he put it at the service of the Società Geografica Italiana (Italian Geographical Society), of which he was President.
