This
museum is the first of its kind in Europe, and Turin's oldest museum.
It was founded at the Royal Arsenal by King Charles Emmanuel III in 1731,
for the benefit of the young artillery men studying at the School of Theory
founded by Ignazio Bertola. The importance of the collection, which contains
exhibits from throughout the world, including some of great value, puts
the museum in the forefront among similar museums in the world.
NOTE: the Museum is temporarily closed for conservation works. It will open again on March 2011, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy.
