The
Conte verde Residence is situated in the most ancient part of the historical
centre of Rivoli. Its signifiance as a symbol and a memorial distinguishes
the house as a rare testimony to an important moment in the town's history.
The fifteenth century facade rises across three levels underlined by two
horizontal cornices. On the ground floor there is a portico of four fully
curved arches supported by pillars crowned with terracotta capitals.
The image is evocative and denotes a taste in transition where the styles
of international Gotic, widespread in the artistic output of Piedmont
between the fouteenth and fifteenth centuries, alreadyappears modified
by the incipient horizontal of the Reinaissance. Re-sanitized and equipped
with the appropriate fittings, the ancient residence now hosts ethnographic
exhibitions and cultural events.
