Itinerary - Vanchiglia - Look
AVANT...CHIGLIA
Labs, studios, artists and creativity. Vanchiglia is the most avant-garde district of the city.A cultural district which is evolving, renewing itself and experimenting even if it remains aware of the dynamics which are typical of a part of the city which is still genuine and peoplefriendly.
THE SLICE OF POLENTA
Built by Antonelli in 1840 and so-called for its bright yellow colour and its characteristic high and narrow shape. The building is so narrow that in order to introduce furniture to the higher floors, it's necessary to use external pulleys!

LOV - VANCHIGLIA OPEN LAB
Vanchiglia Open Lab is a network of many studios, labs and artistic associations which animate and characterize this neighbourhood. In 2009 LOV night was born: a night on which all these places are open to the public, proposing exhibitions, concerts, projections, installations and performances. Don't miss it. www.vanchigliaopenlab.it
SAINT GIULIA'S CHURCH
Built between 1863 and 1866, St. Giulia's church was originally meant to be an example of a great architectural project by Alessandro Antonelli, born and bred in the Vanchiglia district. For economical reasons the project was reduced. Its realisation in any case was possible thanks to the generous donation of the Marchioness and benefactor Giulia di Barolo, to whom one of the nearby streets is dedicated.
Piazza Santa Giulia, 7bis
PALAZZO BIRAGO DI VISCHE
It's an elegant building in refined Neoclassical style, ordered by the Marquis Carlo Emanuele Birago di Vische in 1840. Today it's the seat of the Associassion Piemontèisa.
Via Vanchiglia, 6
CINEPORTO
The 9,400 sq. mi. of the ex textile factory Colongo are today's seat of the Cineporto, where both Italian and foreign TV productions are filmed. The space, totally refurbished and inaugurated for its new role in 2008, includes various areas such as a carpentry and tailor's laboratory, a tool cabinet and a room for film projections. The building is able to combine effectively very modern features and characteristics typical of the industrial architecture of the early 20th century. There is also a cute restaurant where it's possible to eat a star's treat for only 10 euros.
Via Cagliari, 42
ESPACE
In the place which was famous for silent film production today we find the seat of the "Compagnia Sperimentale Drammatica" (an experimental acting company). But Espace is much more. It's the place for culture on the move with exhibitions, events and courses which continue throughout the whole year.
