Published 2008.04.21

You can self-certify, that is declare and sign personally, under your own responsibility and present the document to the municipality or any other office requesting certification, personal information in registries and documents of the Italian government relative to:

  • residence
  • marital status(married, single, divorced)
  • family status, persons cohabitating
  • living status
  • birth of children in Italy
  • registration with professional associations
  • attainment of academic titles in Italy
  • income, status of student in Italy
  • all documents requested by the department of motor vehicles
  • unemployed status

Many of these types of self-certification are required by the procedure for family reunification and save the time needed to go to the different offices and request these certificates.

Making false declarations is a crime, however, and is punishable by law.
