The Home Office has presented its Non-European Citizen Guidebooks offering a new service to foreign and Italian citizens. These will allow them simple access to information on laws and procedures concerning and involving non-Europeans, but are also of interest to families, companies, public institutions or voluntary associations, with special attention paid to job offer procedures.
The purpose and reasoning behind this new information service was effectively illustrated by the Home Office Minister, Giuliano Amato. Commenting on the initiative, he stressed how 'access to information is a basic right for everyone; even more so for those living far from their homelands'. 'Improving laws is not enough', Amato continued, 'if there is no correct information available on who does what, how he/she should do it, when and where he/she should do it'.
