Foreigners and temporary work: a guide to worker rights

Published 2007.07.09

The guidebook: 'Foreigners and temporary work: a guide to worker rights' analyses the alignment of temporary work contracts in Italian labour legislation with the opportunity for foreigners employed on such terms to:

  • Obtain an entry permit for work reasons and obtain the first residence permit.

  • Renew a worker’s residence permit.

  • Convert a residence permit allowed by law and issued for other reasons into a residence permit for work.

  • Obtain a European Communities Residence Card for those residing in the country long-term (new definition of the residence permit).

  • Register with the National Health Service.

  • Access and apply to be allocated council accommodation.

The guidebook was prepared by the Association Un.It.I. – Italian Immigrant Union of Friuli Venezia Giulia and financed by funds for the Regional Immigration Law of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region.
