Decree of Flows 2008

On 4 December, the President of the Council of Ministers signed the decree of flows for 2008.

The decree concerns 150,000 entrances for non-seasonal employment which will be assigned not following the presentation of a new application, but by using the lists drawn up by the Sportelli Unici (Single Desks) for immigration into the country.

The final deadline for presentation of these applications for approval for non-seasonal employment was 31 May 2008.

The places are subdivided as follows:

A. 44,600 domestic employees or personnel for employment in other manufacturing sectors, from the countries which have signed or are about to sign two-way agreements of cooperation on the matter of immigration.

The entrances are subdivided as follows:

  • 4500 Albanians,
  • 1000 Algerians,
  • 3000 Bangladeshis,
  • 8000 Egyptians,
  • 5000 Philippines,
  • 1000 Ghanaians,
  • 4500 Moroccans,
  • 6500 Moldavians,
  • 1500 Nigerians,
  • 1000 Pakistanis,
  • 1000 Senegalese,
  • 100 Somalis,
  • 3500 Sri Lankans,
  • 4000 Tunisians

B. 105,400 domestic employees or care workers from other countries.

As regards non-EU foreign employers, only applications presented by those who, on the date of publication of the decree of flows were already holders of a long-term EU residence permit or who had already applied for one, will be accepted. (This document was previously known as the 'residence paper').

Non-EU foreign employers will have just twenty days from 15 December 2008 to give on-line confirmation of possession of the necessary residence document or residence paper (long-term EU residence permit) and to confirm the application for employment at www.interno.it.
