Night time shelter for persons

From December 4, 2006 to April 6, 2007, at latest, two sites will gradually be set up and equipped with heated containers and camp beds to provide night time shelter for persons – mainly male foreigners with no fixed abode.

The two sites will be:

  • the 'Mario Carrara' Park, Pellerina,

  • at Colletta Park

These two locations will be open from 8 pm to 8 am the following day and can house 192 people in all.

In the same period, a third site will also be open to cater to the basic needs of single women, women with children, pregnant women, families with young children, the elderly and the infirm, either emarginated or subject to critical living conditions.

This site will be located in an appropriately equipped and regulated municipal area in Strada Basse di Stura 33.

The site will contain caravans supplied by the Regional Civil Protection Forces, service containers, shared toilet facilities and cooking areas, catering to approximately 130 people.

Almost 40 beds are now available at three different locations offering aid and assistance.

  • The 'Mario Dravelli' foundation in via Preciosa, Moncalieri can host 20 people in 5 rooms,
  • the 'Fucina del Lampadiere' cultural centre in via Fratelli Garrone has room for 8 people and
  • the 'C.I.O.P.P.' (International Coordination Beyond Psychiatric Disorders) in via Da Verrazano and via Bellini room for a further 9 people.

These three locations will be able to offer people staying there support, company, breakfast, evening meal, basic clothing, interpreting services and the round-the-clock presence of volunteers.

C.I.O.P.P. is also able to provide health and nursing services.
