The public competition now open for persons wishing to take part in the project entitled Voluntary Civil Service – Young Immigrants in Turin (Servizio Civile Volontario - Giovani Immigrati a Torino) targets young second-generation immigrants, aged 18 to 28, who live in Turin and do not have Italian citizenship.
‘Voluntary Civil Service – Young Immigrants in Turin’ is one part of a series of project activities dedicated to second-generation immigrants, called 'Se non ora, quando?' (If not now, then when), promoted by the City of Turin administration and with the financial support of the Ministry for Social Solidarity.
Twenty young people will be selected from among the target group of the public competition. They will be responsible for supporting the various activities that the project aims to develop; creating ties with resident immigrants and other groups that live and work in the project focus area, namely the Barriera di Milano and Vanchiglia-Vanchiglietta.
The young people chosen will be requested to commit themselves to the City of Turin initiative for 12 months, dedicating 24 hours per week. In exchange, the City of Turin will offer training and monthly remuneration for a maximum figure of € 350.00 per month, as per Italian citizens of the same age group carrying out national civil service.
The start of the 12 months’ voluntary civil service is set for September 16 2008.
Those wishing to participate in the competition can apply from June 7, 2007 to 12 midday on July 23, 2007.
