Cinemainstrada street film festival - 5th edition

The Cinemainstrada street film festival, organized by cultural association "i313" is in its 5th edition. The event,which will continue from 5 to 28 of September, consists of free, outdoor showings of popular Italian and foreign films (in case of rain the movies will be shown indoors), focusing on the main cultural communities residing in the area.

Moving around town in August

Some useful information for those who have to move around town between the end of July and the beginning of September: as happens every year, from 11 to 23 August (inclusive) the parking charges in the blue parking areas will be suspended. Information on the validity of subscriptions can be found at the GTT website. From 11 to 22 August (inclusive)the ZTL Ordinaria (Ordinary Limited traffic Zone) will also be suspended.

Terra Madre

Once again this year, during the third edition of 'Terra Madre - Incontro mondiale delle comunità del cibo' (Terra Madre – World Meeting of Food Communities), scheduled to take place from 23 to 27 October 2008, the Municipal Council asks the people of Torino to host one or more of the participants in the delegations of the 1500 food communities from over 150 nations.

Municipal Police Headquarters

From Monday 28 July to Sunday 31 August, the Ufficio Cassa e Verbali (Cash Desk and Statements Office) of the Municipal Police Headquarters at number 74 Via Bologna and the cash desks of the Centro-Crocetta station at number 2 bis Via Giolitti and the station at number 195 Corso Peschiera will be open from Monday to Friday, from 9.15 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. and on Saturday from 8.30 a.m. to 1.00 p.m.

Facilitations for transit

A telegram released by the Ministry of the Interior establishes, on a transitory basis valid from 1 August 2008 to 31 January 2009, certain facilitations for transit through the EU member states by citizens of other countries, who have a permit of residence which is currently undergoing renewal and who are therefore able to present the receipt of Poste Italiane SPA.

The identity Card

The identity Card is now valid for ten years and no longer just five. This was established by law decree 112 of 2008. The rule doesn’t only regard new Identity Cards, but also those currently valid. The new document expiry dates will be sent to those concerned by the Municipalities between one hundred and eighty and ninety days prior to expiry.

Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs

The Municipal Police would like to remind you that several amendments have been made to articles 186 and 187 of the Italian Highway Code, concerning 'driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs' by the introduction of Law no. 92 of 23 May 2008 on 'Urgent measures concerning public safety'.

Council registry office

New desks will be open at the council registry office in Via Carrera 81 (District 4). The desks can be divided into: ordinary cases and quick cases (with two separate queues/ticket machines). These will be joined by two new desks: immigration cases and cases by booking.

Requesting maternity benefits

This is an benefit applicable to children born or adopted after July 1, 2000. In case of mothers from countries outside the European Community, the essential requisite to obtain maternity benefits [assegno di maternità] is possession of a resident's permit [carta di soggiorno].

Public transport at night

Night service: a new transport network for Torino’s nightlife. From the night of Friday 27 June, 10 new lines will link the city centre, particularly Piazza Vittorio Veneto, with the rest of the city.

Change of car ownership

Exemption from payment of ICI

Decree Law. 93/2008 has been published in the Gazzetta Ufficiale (Official Gazette - issue 124 dated 28/5/08), envisaging, as of 16 June, exemption from payment of ICI (Municipal property tax) for property used as the owner’s principle residence, as recorded in the Municipal registers, and related appurtenances, restricted to a single garage or parking space in category C6.

Voluntary Civil Service – Young Immigrants in Turin

The public competition now open for persons wishing to take part in the project entitled Voluntary Civil Service – Young Immigrants in Turin (Servizio Civile Volontario - Giovani Immigrati a Torino) targets young second-generation immigrants, aged 18 to 28, who live in Turin and do not have Italian citizenship. Those wishing to participate in the competition can apply untill 12 midday on July 23, 2008.
