BSW Project - Bethlehem Smart Water

Country of intervention: Palestinian territories.

Scope of Intervention:
Control and management system of the drinking and waste water service of the Municipality of Bethlehem, Beit Jala area,  Beit Sahour area.

Context
In the framework of the Italian-Palestinian PMSP - Palestinian Municipalities Support Program (financed by Program MAE - Ali della Colomba/Dove's wings), with the involvement of the Palestinian Municipalities, the Palestinian Ministry of Local Government (based in Ramallah) and the Italian consular authorities in Jerusalem ( ITAU Ð Italian Technical Assistance Unit).

Expected Goals
Design and implementation of a remote command and control system for the drinking and waste water service of the Municipality of Bethlehem and the areas of Beit Jala and Beit Sahour.
Technical assistance and training for WSSA operators (Municipally owned Company for water, chaired in rotation by the Municipalities of Bethlehem, Beit Jala and Beit Sahour) for the autonomus  remote control management sistem .

Rationalization of the distribution and use of the water resource for citizens of Bethlehem and surrounding areas.
Raising awareness of the local and Italian population on the right to access to water and on the rational use of water resources, through actions carried out before and during the 3rd World Forum of Local Economic Development (Turin, October 2015): youth exchange in Palestine or Italy, meetings in the Municipalities which joined Co.Co.Pa., video spot on good water saving practices, decalogue on good practices related to the theme of water.
