This church was built during the period 1642 - 74 to plans by Andrea Costaguta at the behest of Maria Cristina of France, whose remains are kept here. The façade, attributed to Carlo Filippo Aliberti, dates from 1764. The chapels, at either end of the transept, were designed by Filippo Juvarra (1733).
